STCG in Capital Market

LTCG / STCG in Capital Market -

Big announcement in the Budget today with regard to Long Term Capital again Tax on Equity.

If your investment in Mutual Funds and Equity is there for more than 1 year there would be a Tax of 10% on the Profit earned which was 0% as of now.

For this they have considered Base Year as 31/01/2018.
Which means if you have invested INR 100 on 1st Sept,2016 and you redeemed on 2nd April 2018 and the value on redemption date is INR 180 and the value on 31/01/2018 is Rs 150 hence you would be charged a capital gain on 180-150=30.
Tax would be on Rs 30 @10%.
Short Term Capital Gain remain unchanged at 15%.

Yes, there is a 10% LTCG, Is there any better options then equity's to create wealth?

Where do you take your money ?

FD - 6.5% ( Tax as per slab )

Gold - 6-7% ( LTCG 20%)

Real estate - 8-9% ( LTCG 20%)

Don't worry about market much. It's a short term volatility.
